"After I found out I was pregnant I knew I wanted a natural non-medicated birth, if possible. I found Melissa using Doulamatch.net. What appealed most to me was her experience and her service fee. She offered a wide variety of experience based on her personal experiences as well as what she experienced with other clients. Additionally, her service fee was reasonable and affordable. Before meeting face to face, I conducted an introductory call to see if we would be a good match. She patiently answered all my questions and provided great advice for my pregnancy. I found her really easy to talk to and comfortable in sharing my concerns, fears and anxiety regarding L&D. She even took the time to speak with my husband to explain her role during L&D. Before making a final decision, we had the opportunity to meet with Melissa face to face. Meeting her helped confirm in my mind, she was who i wanted to support me during L&D in addition to my family.

My L&D did not go as planned. My water broke at 36.4 weeks and I had to be induced. I reached out to Melissa and she came to the hospital later that evening. When the contractions got going, she was there to help massage my back, place cold compresses on my neck and forehead, offer suggestions of other labor positions or just hold me when the contractions got really strong and intense. She helped me understand what was occurring during my labor and the options available to me. When everyone else was asleep, she stayed up with me the entire night, hardly taking a break.  

After about 20 hours of labor and an epidural, I delivered my son vaginally. Melissa was right there the entire time, cheering and coaching me on and supporting me until the very end. I'm not sure what I would have done had we not hired a doula or more specifically not found Melissa. She was absolutely wonderful! I can't sing her praises enough. I will certainly rehire her if I fall pregnant again."
