Labor Doula
BIRTH SERVICES
Each service is tailored to your individual needs. Services may also be adjusted to include additional care if preferred.
PRENATAL
Supporting from the early stage of pregnancy, I can assist you in finding prenatal care that meets your preferences. I will also meet with you to discuss your ideal birth experience and assist you as you set the parts in motion to achieve that birth.
BIRTH PLANNING
I will assist you in creating and drafting a list of birth preferences. This list will serve as a guide, tailored to your wishes, for your care providers, uniting the birth team in their attempt to assist you in the birth of your choice.
ON-CALL LABOR SUPPORT
I will be available 24/7 in the weeks surrounding your due date for on-call support both by phone (for questions or concerns) or in person (for labor support). I will attend you at your desired birth location and assist with pain management, massage, positioning for labor progression, etc.
RESOURCE GUIDE
I strive to consistently stay up to date on area resources. I am able to be your one stop shop for recommendations for eveything from like-minded care providers, to lactation consultants, pediatricians, placenta encapsulation specialists, chiropractors,etc.
POSTPARTUM
In the weeks after delivery, I will meet with you at your home to discuss the birth, answer any questions you have about postpartum care or newborn care, assist with feeding issues, or refer to appropriate resources as needed. I am also happy to snuggle baby while you enjoy some pampering time (catching a quick nap, taking a bubble bath, etc.).
SUPPORT OF A DOULA COLLECTIVE
I work as part of a collective. We are each doulas with individual businesses who provide backup support to one another. As part of that, we attend prenatal visits in pairs. This allows you to meet both myself, as the primary doula, and my backup (in the event of an unforeseen circumstance). Through this model we are able to insure that you will be served and supported by a familiar, caring face when it comes time to meet your baby. This model also facilitates seamless care by two professionals who know both your family and your birth preferences.
COSTS
$850
- Two private prenatal visits (after initial consultation) with Melissa and a secondary doula, in your home, to help you prepare for the birth
- 24 hour on call labor support from around 38 weeks to birth
- At home support at the beginning of labor
- Continuous care throughout labor and birth
- One postpartum visit in the week following the birth
